Interesting Facts/Historic Buildings and Places
Suwanee was originally a small Indian village situated on the banks of the Chattahoochee River and Suwanee Creek. It was named after a Shawnee tribe that inhabited the region in the late eighteenth century. It is thought that the name “Suwanee” derived from the mispronunciation of the name “Shawnee”.
