About the North Fulton County, Georgia Area

Fulton County was established in 1853 and was named either after the inventor, Robert Fulton, or after an early railroad official, Hamilton Fulton. North Fulton County, the area located north of the Chattahoochee River, is one of the fastest growing areas, partly due to GA 400, a major state road. Fulton County is home to over 900,000 residents who enjoy exceptional schools and world-class entertainment.

The county seat of Fulton County is Atlanta, which is the principal city of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Fulton County is the most populous county in Georgia and is included in the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, Georgia Metropolitan Statistical Area.

North Fulton County

In 2006, the General Assembly approved the creation of Milton and Johns Creek, two new cities, which have municipalized North Fulton. Residents of North Fulton have wanted to secede and form a new county called Milton County, named after the county that was absorbed into Fulton County during the Great Depression.
Senator Sam Zamarripa of Atlanta created quite a stir in 2006 when he suggested that the cities in North Fulton be allowed to secede and form Milton County in exchange for Atlanta and Fulton County, consolidating their governments into a new Atlanta County.

The following incorporated cities and towns belong to Fulton County:

Alpharetta
Atlanta
College Park
East Point
Fairburn
Hapeville
Johns Creek (as of 12/01/2006)
Milton (as of 12/01/2006)
Mountain Park
Palmetto
Roswell
Sandy Springs
Union City

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport serves the Fulton County area. The Fulton County Airport is run by the county as a municipal or general aviation airport that services business jets and private aircraft.

Real Estate Tips
First Time Buyers >Bargaining

You have done everything that your agent recommended to make your home look wonderful and you have cut your asking price to the bone. Even so, an offer comes in which is so low that you are offended! Is it possible to reconcile your differences and reach a meeting of the minds when presented with such an offer?

It may not take many concessions on your part to make the transaction work if the people who love your house also love to bargain. Even though it may seem that you are far apart in dollar amount or terms of sale, the real distance may not be all that great. Your real estate agent can help you determine if the buyers are ready, willing and able to carry through with the transaction. If they are qualified, the next step involves evaluating your differences. Look for areas where you have some flexibility to negotiate. You may have to go back and forth several times in order to make the transaction work. The trick is to be patient and to not take the process personally!
